Pinalenos Gila/Apache trout Project - genetic samples(fin clipping)

Pinalenos Gila/Apache trout Project. We will be hiking up lower Grant Creek and camping. The location is behind(north of) the Grant Prison near Wilcox, Arizona. We will be fishing and netting to take genetic samples(fin clipping)of fish for testing. We will be working with the Trout Unlimited Student Chapter of the U of A. This is a steep hike. The road in is 4wd only. Please notify me in advance for the time you will be there so we can pick you up.

Pinalenos Gila/Apache trout Genetic Sampling. We will drive up Mt. Graham and hike the upper portion of Grant Creek. We will possibly hike over to upper Big Creek. All work will be Genetic Sampling with U of A Chapter of Trout Unlimited. The purpose of these projects are to determine the purity of the Native trout in these streams

White Mountains-National Stream Cleanup Day in conjunction with Burro Creek(near Big Lake) work with the Arizona Elk society Fence Removal Project. Big BBQ after work is complete. Camping near the worksite(forest road 116). Lunch will be provided by OPTU. All tools and supplies will be provided.

Durango Colorado- Healing Waters Project- We will be working with at least a dozen wounded Veteran's; assisting in fly tying and fly fishing. We will have discounted room availability in Durango. We will also be taking the Durango-Silverton train to get to one of the project areas. Please, if you are interested in helping these vets but can't attend, donations can be made to OPTU and sent to Jeff Collins RC126(TEP address).

We will meet at the pasture at FR116.

Crayfish eradication on the WF of the Black River- White Mountains, Arizona. We will be camping all week(forest road 116). This trip will be billed as Volunteer on Vacation. Get out of the heat and join us even if it is just for a day or two. Camping is near Big lake. Toilets provided, lunches provided and some dinners; Pasta with Crayfish Marinara is a meal you will not soon forget. There will also be some hiking to read and/or remove some in-stream temperature monitors.

Trout in the Classroom-We will be working with the Sahaurita Middle School class again this fall semester. The work will be including Tanks set up, egg retrieval, egg set-up, assisting in monitoring progress of egg hatching and trout growth. Lectures will be given throughout the semester and assistance will be needed on experiments.
